German DVGW agency (German Gas and Water Association) in order to control the contact with drinking water products in the microbiology does not affect human health, developed W270 regulations, also known as DVGW W270 certification, it is mainly concerned with the contact with drinking water products in the microbiology requirements, to protect drinking water from biological impurities pollution. The latest W270 standard is DIN EN 16421 method 2.
For W270 and KTW, the formula ingredients should be evaluated first and meet the requirements of Germany positive list before the test can be carried out. However, the laboratory will give rectification suggestions for the formula evaluation, and the customer can continue to submit the formula for review. If the result of the formula review is qualified, the probability of the product passing the migration test will be greatly increased, which can reduce the cost to the greatest extent for the customer. As of March 21, 2021, all W270 test certificates will be invalid and future W270 tests will only be a report.
【W270 Certification Process 】
A. The customer shall submit A written application to Shangdu Company and provide accurate product information, including but not limited to product drawings, product specifications, product uses, product characteristics, etc.;
B. Data review, cost and certification cycle confirmation, both parties sign a service contract;
C. Formula review (the laboratory can sign confidentiality agreement with the customer), requiring the supplier to provide further raw material formula;
D, sample type test;
E, test passed, issued test report (2021.3.21 no longer issued test certificate).
【W270 Cycle and expiration date? 】
W270 testing usually takes 4-5 months, so companies should apply as early as possible to avoid affecting product sales.
The W270 report recommendation is valid for 5 years and retested every 5 years.
Note: If your product applies for both KTW and W270 testing, only one formulation audit is required.
